All Gakuran Fighting Styles and Perks

Compare every current Gakuran fighting style: Basic, Slugger, Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, Hakari, Capoeira, Wrestling, and Kure.

Gakuran currently documents nine fighting styles: Basic, Slugger, Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, Hakari, Capoeira, Wrestling, and Kure. This hub uses the latest public style cards and supersedes older guides that list only three styles or use Slugger’s pre-v7.203 balance values.

Basic perks

  • Counterstrike: after a perfect block, the next attack deals 5% more damage.
  • Swift Recovery: posture regenerates 15% faster.
  • Guard Pierce II: attacks deal 15% chip through guard.
  • Resilience II: adds 25% grapple-clash strength.

Basic is not a dead roll. It exposes the systems every advanced style still needs: perfect blocks, posture control, chip, and clashes. Keep it while learning if rerolls are scarce.

Slugger perks

  • Unstable: deal 30% more damage and take 10% more damage under the newest documented balance note.
  • Guard Pierce V MAX: 30% chip damage.
  • Resilience III: 45% grapple-clash strength.

Slugger had a harsher 25% damage-taken penalty in v7.148. Update v7.203 changed the current documented values to +30% damage dealt and +10% taken. It rewards decisive offense, but the defensive penalty still punishes careless trades. Use the full Slugger guide for current builds and counterplay.

Muay Thai perks

  • Powerful M2 attacks ragdoll.
  • Crushing Force II: 15% more posture damage.
  • Guard Pierce V: 30% chip damage.
  • Resilience V: 55% grapple-clash strength.

Muay Thai is the posture-and-pressure specialist. Its numbers are strongest when you make the opponent hold guard, but whiffed heavy turns can still surrender initiative.

Karate perks

  • Powerful M2 attacks ragdoll.
  • Steady Nerves: a perfect block grants 15% posture regeneration for three seconds.
  • Balanced Strike: M2 refunds a listed 25% posture; the source notes this value could change.
  • Guard Pierce II: 15% chip damage.
  • Resilience II: 25% grapple-clash strength.

Karate converts defense into efficient offense. It suits a player who can perfect block, reset posture, and avoid wasting the M2 refund on a predictable attack.

Boxing perks

  • Untouchable: the M2 has invulnerability frames and cannot be interrupted, but it can still be parried or dodged.
  • Perfect Reflex: a perfect block removes one second from the active M2 cooldown.
  • Guard Pierce III: 20% chip damage.

Boxing is mechanically clean without being automatic. Its M2 protects the animation from interruption, not from correct counterplay, so use it as a read instead of a panic button.

Hakari perks

  • Powerful M2 attacks ragdoll.
  • Momentum Rush: completing a full M1 combo grants a seven-second window where M2 deals three times its normal damage.
  • Guard Pierce II: 15% chip damage.

Hakari asks you to confirm the full chain and then manage a short burst window. Throwing M2 immediately every time makes the payoff easy to predict.

Capoeira perks

  • Powerful M2 attacks ragdoll.
  • Heavy Hitter I: 5% more guard-break damage.
  • Guard Pierce II: 15% chip damage.
  • Ginga: dash cooldown is 25% shorter.

Capoeira’s clearest identity is mobility. Use extra dash availability to change angles and leave losing exchanges, not to spend every dash before the opponent commits. Use the full Capoeira guide to practice Ginga movement decisions.

Wrestling perks

  • Takedown: M2 grabs and slams for 1.5x damage, with hyperarmor; opponents can still parry or dodge it.
  • Heavy Hitter III: 15% more guard-break damage.
  • Guard Pierce II: 15% chip damage.
  • Resilience V: 55% grapple-clash strength.

Wrestling has the strongest documented grapple identity. Hyperarmor prevents simple interruption, but it does not make a telegraphed Takedown safe against a prepared parry or dodge. Use the full Wrestling guide for Takedown setups and counters.

Kure perks

  • Last Stand: at 25% health or lower, total damage increases by 15%.
  • Guard Pierce II: 15% chip damage.
  • Resilience I: 15% grapple-clash strength.

Kure arrived in v7.400. The public card currently documents these passives but does not publish an exact rarity, reroll chance, or complete move list. Last Stand is a comeback mechanic, not a reason to intentionally absorb free damage. Use the full Kure guide before spending rerolls on the newest style.

Which Gakuran style should you keep?

Keep Basic to learn, Boxing or Capoeira for movement-focused play, Karate for perfect-block efficiency, Hakari for combo burst, Muay Thai for posture pressure, Wrestling for grabs, Slugger for raw risk-reward damage, and Kure for controlled low-health comebacks. Confirm the current Stats text before rerolling because a hotfix can change numbers between notes.
